Stress Breaks!
Countdown to Winter Break: 12 days or less! If you are one of the 4,500 unlucky Wake students with mid-exam anxiety, fear not. In the 1950’s, study breaks probably included sitting on the quad and saying, “Gosh it’s cold and I don’t want to study.” Welcome to the 21st century! Study breaks are only a few clicks away! The following should provide unlimited entertainment for the stressed student:
Puppy cam: Live video of six puppies? Who would watch that? Only 12,000 viewers at any given time. That philosophy paper won’t seem so tough when it shares the very small screen with 6 adorable puppies.
Robert Murraine: He’s the ridiculous popper who wowed the world on So You Think You Can Dance. Learn a few of his moves if you need something a little stronger than yoga at the Miller Center. For more dance entertainment, check out the best of So You Think You Can Dance or even the safety dance from Scrubs. Also, Shane Mercado has outdone himself with Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” dance. It’s the best study break I can offer!
Mashups: What could be better than one good song on iTunes? Two songs playing at once! Or better yet… one good and one really bad. Coldplay plus Soulja Boy is a crime, but it’s entertaining. The Killers’ “Somebody Told Me” and “Feel Good, Inc.“ by the Gorillaz is surprisingly decent. But my personal favorite, Kanye West’s “Goldigger” and Beethoven’s 5th, is pure gold.
Mitch Hedberg: He was a genius comedian who died prematurely, but his jokes resonate through the end of 2008 and can put a smile on any face during a 3 am date with the library, as can the comedy of Dane Cook, Demetri Martin, or virtually anything on Comedy Central.
Don’t worry about exams, papers, projects, and the like. Food and rest are coming soon, guaranteed!
