Autism miracle

ABC News posted a really amazing story today. Carly Fleischman, a 13-year-old girl who suffers from autism so severe that she is unable to speak, has finally found a way to communicate—through the computer. After two years of working with simple pictures and symbols on a keyboard, Carly is now able to write cogent and insightful messages. This breakthrough allows Carly to shed new light on the disorder, as she is able to describe exactly how it feels to have autism. Here, she speaks out to those who discriminate against her because of their own ignorance:

Autism is hard because you want to act one way, but you can’t always do that. It’s sad that sometimes people don’t know that sometimes I can’t stop myself and they get mad at me. If I could tell people one thing about autism it would be that I don’t want to be this way. But I am, so don’t be mad. Be understanding.
