XC takes third, 11th at ACCs
Men and women traveled to Chapel Hill, N.C., to compete in ACC Championships

The No. 25-ranked women’s cross country team and the men’s team traveled to Chapel Hill to compete in the ACC Cross Country Championships on Nov. 1. The women’s team placed third overall, behind Florida State, who placed first, and Boston College, who placed second.
In the individual side of the competition, junior Allie Kieffer placed 11th in the 6k run with a time of 21:13.2, earning 11 points for the Deacons.
Finishing second for the Deacs and adding points to the team total was freshman Anna Nosenko, who finished 16th overall with a time of 21:22.8.
Following A. Nosenko was sister and fellow freshman Dina Nosenko, with a time of 21:29.6 and finishing in 22nd place.
Sophomore Marley Burns rounded out the top 30 for the Deacons at 25th, finishing with a time of 21:32.9.
Redshirt senior Merry Placer finished 39th for the Deacons, running a time of 21:54.9 and rounding out the scoring for Wake.
Kieffer’s 11th place finish landed her on the All-ACC team, while A. Nosenko’s 16th place finish landed her ACC Freshman of the Year honors; however, she just missed the All-ACC team by two people.
The men’s team placed 11th out of the 12 ACC teams at the meet.
Sophomore Greg Billington led the Deacs for the second year in a row with a time of 25:43.1 in the 8k race, which placed him 38th overall.
Freshman Paul Loeser came in second for Wake Forest with a time of 26:53.6, placing him 81st overall.
Another freshman, Tom Morrison, placed 85th overall and came in third for the Deacs with a time of 27:13.8
Rounding out the scoring for the Deacons were junior Nicholas Lepley at 98th, freshman Ben Morrow at 99th, senior Zach Hines at 101st and freshman Matt King at 102nd.
Virginia won the meet for the men with a total score of 40, while Wake came in 11th with a score of 342.
Coming up next, Wake will host the Southeast Regionals Nov. 15 at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, N.C.
The women’s race is scheduled to start at 11 a.m, followed by the men’s race at 12 p.m.
