Servus Aus Österreich
My fellow Americans—Greetings from Austria.
My name is Mick and I will be your international political commentator. Please put your seats in the upright position secure your tray tables and seatbelts—let’s hope we don’t have another water landing.
Anyway, I arrived here in early January, and was shocked to get off the plane. Unshowered, and feeling greasier than an auto mechanic, I was greeted with some unfortunate news. Somehow, Billery had pulled it out in New Hampshire. From that moment, I realized that this race wouldn’t be over even upon my return to the states.
The downside of this prolonged race? As each day passes, the public’s perception of Democrats is lefter and lefter. While Barry O and Billary duke it out over trivial matters, McCain’s been parading about the world in an attempt to demonstrate his strength. Luckily Democrats are starting to realize the inevitable. Obama has closed the gap quite a bit in Pennsylvania, but we’ll see how it goes.
I’ve talked to maybe a hundred Europeans on my trip— most have no idea who McCain is, but when they find out he’s a 71 year old white guy, let’s just say… they are less than pleased. There’s a snowballs chance in hell that McCain can fix our standing in the world—especially if it involves occupying Iraq for another decade. People are pissed here.
In order to converse with most of my new European friends, I had to adamantly voice my displeasure with Bush. I have a friend who was spit on by a very attractive Hungarian girl on his travels for his American-ness… what a pity.
Auf Wiedersehen.
