The Masters Debate

Round One-- Fight!

Since I am terrifically biased, I’ll point to most other sources that say it was virtually a drawHere’s a poll of respondents, but keep in mind that the ratings were abysmal for this particular debate, many were watching football or thought it was cancelled altogether.

There are sites that rave about McCain’s uncanny ability to pronounce various names of foreign leaders—I hope he has more qualification than that, especially since he had so much trouble actually doing it.

This brings to mind the old ad where a young man is interviewing for a job with a “Mr. Dumass”, and throughout the entirety grossly mispronounces his name.  Anyone out there who doesn’t think that that kind of thing is important probably has yet to interview for a real job.  Yes, I would consider the presidency a real job.

McCain also hit home on his talking point that “Obama just doesn’t understand”.  This is a pretty interesting tactic considering it directly contrasts what the viewers were actually witnessing.  Obama certainly had a grasp on most of the issues; he was sharp for the most part (less the whole bracelet incident) and he held his own (just think back to the Hillary Debates).

Some sources say that McCain needed a game changer, and tie goes to Obama.  I disagree—history has dictated this is a right-of-centre country, and any day Obama isn’t making headway, he is actually losing ground.

Can’t wait for the Palin/Biden debate next week.

I was very disappointed that McCain let Obama blame the financial crisis solely on the Bush administration, this is why:
