Ball offers community chance to come together
By This column represents the views of the Old Gold & Black Editorial Board. |
Two years ago students experienced a one-of-a-kind event at the university – the Inaugural Ball. Held in honor of the inauguration of President Nathan O. Hatch, the ball was like nothing the university had ever seen. T
The event united students, faculty, administration and staff in a unique and moving way.
This year, to our delight, this event will prove to be not so singular. The university will mount a second presidential ball, funded through the generosity of the President’s Office and the Student Activities Fee.
We applaud the dedicated students and administrators who are working to make this second ball a reality and we hope and believe that students will embrace this event in the same way they did the first. Our community rarely has a chance to come together in a setting that makes no distinctions between Greek and non-Greek, student and professor, staff and faculty, freshman and senior, athlete and non-athlete.
The ball is one such activity, a celebration of being a part of the Wake Forest community. We urge student leaders to get involved with promoting the ball. Sophomores and freshmen, ask any junior or senior for his memories of the first ball and we guarantee you’ll hear a positive review. We hope to see each and every member of the university community Oct. 13 at the Benton Convention Center.
