24-hour rooms at ZSR need to become more cozy
The library plans to renovate the 24-hour study rooms are greeted with appreciation, and we hope that the library staff will also pursue plans to eventually make the entire Z. Smith Reynolds Library a 24-hour building.
At a university that prides itself for its academics, the library research facilities are critical for the students, as are quiet, organized spaces to complete this work.
The current 24-hour study lounges in the library have been a great space for students who need a place to concentrate late at night, but could certainly use an update.
We’d like to see more comfortable furniture to start. Comfortable chairs, more desk lamps, less institutional desks and plenty of outlets would make the room more functional while giving it an added level of comfort.
We encourage the administration to support the library staff in making 24-hour ZSR a reality. 24-hour libraries are a staple on many college campuses and we hate to see this limit on research capabilities at this university.
