The environment is comfortable in the renovated 1892 house.

The dark red walls and small fireplaces located in each room set the perfect mood for a good meal and great conversation.

The charming atmosphere is enhanced by live music performed throughout dinner from a variety of genres.

While the menu has been deeply influenced by cuisines from all over the world, it is also definitely rooted in the American South.

The chefs use only locally grown produce and poultry as well as seafood from sources of the North Carolina coast.

None of the dishes dissatisfy. The lobster macaroni and cheese is excellent. Chunks of lobster added to a blend of asiago, smoked gouda, and fontina cheeses truly enhance this comfort food.

Another winner from the dinner menu is the sautéed chicken and artichoke hearts over tri-colored tortellini with spinach and sun-dried tomatoes in a pesto cream sauce with asiago cheese.

The grilled beef tenderloin, which is stuffed with Bousin cheese, sautéed with vegetables and served with mashed potatoes is another good choice.

The hickory-smoked pork chop is served over maple pecan mashed sweet potatoes with southern comfort peach confit.

The menu also boasts delicious appetizers and salads, including lobster and shrimp nachos, pine nut encrusted cheese and spinach dip. Also wonderful are the seared sea scallops over fresh spinach with walnuts, tomatoes and goat cheese served with chipotle buttermilk dressing.

While Christopher’s is more pricey than many college students are willing to pay, the dinner is more than worth it, making Christopher’s a great place for a nice dinner out with your friends or parents.

While the dinner menu is superb, Christopher’s also serves brunch and has an extensive wine and dessert menu.

Brunch is served from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Sundays. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. from Tues. to Sat.

Cocktails, wine and appetizers are available from 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

The drinks list includes many different types of wines from around the world as well as various signature martinis, cocktails and beer.

The dessert menu features six mouth-watering treats that look almost too good to eat.

While there are only six to choose from, you may find it quite difficult to choose just one.

Try the apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and creme anglaise or the blueberry spooncake with butter pecan ice cream as both are delightful. Smooth music, low candlelight and the wonderful food join together at Christopher’s and create a charming atmosphere for an unparalleled dining experience that proves itself as one of Winston-Salem’s true gems.
