In a recent article in Newsweek magazine, Duke alum Devin Gordon gives a whiny and bitter trip down memory lane. He basically confirms everything we hate about Duke University and lets us know that we are not alone. Although, since I come from Connecticut, it does make me happy to know that he hates UCONN for beating Duke in the championship game in 1999 (the man can definitely hold a grudge!)
There’s a writer named Will Blythe, a graduate of the University of North Carolina, our sworn enemy, who hates Duke so much that he wrote an entire book about it called “To Hate Like This Is to Be Happy Forever,” and it was a best-seller. He spun his bile for a bunch of college students into serious money. And you know what? We get it. We’re fine with it. Our pain is your joy. Our tears are your sweet tea. Whenever we lose, an angel gets its wings.
That’s right, Duke. We hate you too. Maybe if you weren’t so insanely arrogant we’d care if you lost… but let’s face it, beating you 86-73 was the highlight of our season.
